Plant Decommissioning

Following plant closure and prior to demolition or renovation of an existing facility, it is imperative that all hazardous materials on site are identified before any work begins.

The type and extent of hazardous materials in structures, equipment, and subsurface soils must be determined, so as to ensure that all such materials are properly removed and disposed of as part of the decommissioning process.

Information obtained during plant audits is necessary to enable cost-effective decommissioning or renovation plans to be formulated. These plans must include specifications and remediation practices aimed at ensuring compliance with applicable environmental regulations and other environmental concerns relavant to the facility.
