The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (MLITSD) has announced its compliance initiatives for the period spanning April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. These initiatives aim to enhance safety and regulatory adherence across various sectors.
Construction Sector
Initiatives:
- Falls from Heights in Single-Family Residential and Multi-Family Residential: Education, outreach, and awareness campaigns along with focused inspections will be conducted from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
- Struck-by Material, Equipment, and Vehicles: Similar educational efforts and focused inspections are scheduled for the same period.
Health Care Sector
Initiatives:
- Slips, Trips, and Falls Prevention Campaign: MLITSD will conduct education, outreach, and awareness activities from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Additionally, focused inspections will commence on June 3, 2024.
Industrial Sector
Initiatives:
- Material Handling: MLITSD will focus on education, outreach, and awareness campaigns, as well as conducting focused inspections throughout the period from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025.
Mining Sector
Initiatives:
- Airborne Hazards Management and Underground Ventilation for Diesel-Powered Equipment: MLITSD will conduct educational programs, outreach, and awareness campaigns from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. Focused inspections will also be conducted, starting June 3, 2024.
Specialized Professional Services
Initiatives:
- Worker Exposures to Chemical Agents in the Workplace: Educational efforts, outreach, and awareness campaigns are scheduled from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, with focused inspections starting July 2, 2024.
- WHMIS Training Based on the Amended Hazardous Products Regulations: Similar educational initiatives and focused inspections are planned from April 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, commencing on July 2, 2024.
