Are you looking to take the next step in your career in environmental consulting and occupational health and safety?

At T. Harris Environmental Management Inc. (THEM), you’ll do more than manage projects — you’ll help deliver solutions that protect people, ensure compliance, and improve environments across Ontario and Quebec.

We’re hiring a Project Coordinator in our Toronto office who is organized, proactive, and ready to play a key role in delivering environmental and OHS projects from start to finish.

What You’ll Do

As a Project Coordinator, you’ll support the planning, coordination, and execution of environmental and occupational health and safety projects across a wide range of industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) sites.

You’ll work closely with Project Managers, field technicians, and clients to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Coordinating project schedules, resources, and timelines to ensure successful delivery
  • Supporting Project Managers with budget tracking, scope management, and project documentation
  • Communicating with clients, contractors, and internal teams to gather information and provide updates
  • Planning and overseeing fieldwork activities, including coordinating technicians and subcontractors
  • Participating in fieldwork as needed, including site inspections, hazardous materials assessments, and sampling
  • Assisting in the preparation of technical reports and project deliverables
  • Supporting the development of proposals, cost estimates, and technical submissions
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, including OHSA and related Ontario environmental and OHS standards
  • Utilizing company systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) for project tracking and documentation

You’ll split your time between the office, field sites across the Greater Toronto Area, and remote work depending on project needs.

Here’s what you’ll get:

  • A hybrid work environment with flexibility to support work-life balance
  • Collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals
  • A supportive and inclusive workplace that values communication, initiative, and continuous improvement
  • Competitive compensation and benefits

We’re proud to be a diverse team that brings different perspectives to every project, and we encourage our staff to grow, contribute ideas, and make an impact.

Who You Are

We’re looking for someone who is detail-oriented, reliable, and capable of balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Must-Haves:

  • Minimum Bachelor of Science/Environmental Studies degree or equivalent plus 1 to 2 years minimum of field experience as a Senior Technician/Technologist with Environmental Management and/or Industrial hygiene projects.
  • Have acquired and are a member of good standing in a professional/trade association and have a designation such as CET, AMRT, ROHT, CRSP or equivalent.
  • Thorough understanding of all relevant legislative requirements in the area of Health and Safety for project management and the safety and welfare of THEM employees.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to deal effectively with clients, technicians, fellow senior managers, administrative personnel and contractors.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to oversee multiple projects and research and develop proposals in conjunction with Project managers.
  • While Supervisory experience is a benefit to manage a staff of technicians or contractors involved in a project, the necessary skill should be obtained by working in conjunction with a Project manager.
  • Project management and organizational skills are necessary to plan and run a project.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications, Microsoft Office, basic drawing software (AutoCAD), spreadsheets, e-mail, and ability to read and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical drawings, etc.
  • Technical competency using various types of testing equipment.
  • Initiative is required to make recommendations, take action, and work with little direction when access to a Project manager is not readily available. However, it should always be noted that in very contentious circumstances, a Project or Senior manager should always be referred to in order to make a final decision.
  • It is expected that a Project Coordinator will be billable 70-80% of the time.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Familiarity with hazardous building materials (asbestos, lead, mould, etc.)
  • Experience preparing proposals or technical reports
  • Membership in or eligibility for a professional association (e.g., OHAO, AIHA, IICRC)

Position Details

  • Type: Full-time, permanent
  • Location: Toronto office (Dixon Rd. & Highway 27) + field travel across the GTA
  • Work Model: Hybrid (office, field, and remote)
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility based on project requirements
