The Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (MLITSD) has released its latest 2025-2026 compliance initiatives, outlining key focus areas and inspection blitzes across multiple industries. These initiatives aim to reinforce workplace safety, regulatory compliance, and employer accountability.
Here’s what you need to know about the upcoming MLITSD compliance blitzes and how to stay ahead of inspections.
Construction Sector
Initiatives:
- Single-family residential and multi-family residential: Education, outreach, and awareness campaigns along with focused inspections will be conducted from April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026.
Health Care Sector
Initiatives:
- Workplace violence prevention campaign: MLITSD will conduct education, outreach, and awareness activities from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. Additionally, focused inspections will commence on June 2, 2025.
Industrial Sector
Initiatives:
- Material Handling: MLITSD will focus on education, outreach, and awareness campaigns, as well as conducting focused inspections throughout the period from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
Mining Sector
Initiatives:
- Slips, trips and falls: MLITSD will conduct educational programs, outreach, and awareness campaigns from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. Focused inspections will also be conducted, starting June 2, 2025.
Specialized Professional Services
Initiatives:
- Worker exposures to chemical agents in the workplace: Educational efforts, outreach, and awareness campaigns, as well as conducting focused inspections are scheduled from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
- WHMIS training based on the amended Hazardous Products Regulations: Similar educational initiatives and focused inspections are planned from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026.
- Ergonomics – musculoskeletal disorder prevention within the retail sector: MLITSD will conduct educational programs, outreach, and awareness campaigns from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2026. Focused inspections will also be conducted, starting June 2, 2025.
